My FIFTY Cents on CROSSFIRE

DISCLAIMER: This is NOT a hate post for Crossfire. I don't like hating things, since I believe that only a thin line separates hating and loving. I will share my thoughts upon reading Bared to You for the first time:

I've read Bared to You out of curiosity at dahil na rin sa trail na iniwan ng Fifty Shades of Grey. And imagine my shock and amusement when I found striking similarities sa parehong book 1 ng dalawang series. As in naiba lang ang setting, character names, and other details... but it was like reading Fifty Shades all over again! I mean, what the hell? I haven't experienced so much deja vus in one book. To think na matagal-tagal na rin noong nabasa ko ang Fifty. Really gave me goosebumps.

I don't know if it's just me or if anybody noticed that. Or if it's possible to do something so similar with another book. It will be a cunning and ruthless move for Ms. Day or her publisher and an insult to intelligent readers, but... okay. I still give her the benefit of the doubt. Pakiramdam ko lang kasi na-tanso ako. :(

I agree na mas maayos ang pagkakagawa sa BtY kaysa sa FSoG. Sa track record pa lang ni Sylvia Day, wala na akong masasabi. But I was sort of turned off kaya hindi ko pa itinutuloy (yeah, I might, just to see if I get deja vus again) ang Crossfire series (sh*t, I'm starting to sound like PHR "reviewers/critics" XD1).

Iyon lang. Curious lang.

1   NOTE: Don't get me wrong, ha. I've said that I like having reviewers/commentators for Tagalog romance, if only to help writers up their game. :)

  1. Ditto! I've read both and the similarities are endless. From MCs names- storyline premise- genre to some scenes, so on and altho mas maayos nga naman ang CF (why the hell not, may platform na kumbaga courtesy of FST's mistakes and everything.

I love SylDay esp her Renegade Angels series but I was disappointed with CF and I lose my interest on the 3rd book (DNF it) esp when the writer announced that it will be a 5 book series instead of a Trilogy. Goodness gracious. Ano pa pwede idagdag doon? Kung tutuusin pwede na matapos un sa book 3 and give both GC and Eva their much needed HEA but because of the so-called FAME the series got, pinahaba pa. Kesyo na ung ibang minor character ginawan na din ng side story within the series. Naman. More unresolved conflict means the series can go on forever. Sigh.

Napa-comment lang. HAHA. For me, CG is the only megalomaniac billionaire I know. Peace out. XD

    1. Wow. Right now, I don't know if I should be glad that we discovered the same about CF. Nakakalungkot, `di ba? :( Hindi naman sa intensiyon nating magbintang o manira, it's just disappointing. Lalo na sa book lovers at avid readers. Maybe I'll read CF series once I take my initial impression of the series out of my system. But it wouldn't be as fun anymore, I think. And 2 more books for the series? Well, good for CF fans. ^_^

  2. I am glad that I can talk to someone who's.. well.. thinking outside the box (tama ba ito?) regarding CF thingie. Yahaa. Maybe you can read the whole series once it's completed. And yep, disappointing lang talaga. Anyhow, we're just two people voicing out our thoughts. No harmies. xx
